TURN AZ BLUE!
|
| Our Mission |
- We intend to bring together activists, bloggers, and voters to work toward progressive political change in Arizona.
- By sharing information and keeping each other informed, we can coordinate efforts to promote progressive causes and candidates.
- We hope to provide a forum for local Democratic candidates to present their positions on issues of concern to Arizonans.
- Anyone who shares our goals is welcome to join and contribute.
- The age of open source politics is here. Lobbyists and special interests have run Arizona for too long.
- Let's take back Arizona from the big money special interests and the right wing crazies!

| Arizona's budget deficit is now estimated at $3.4 billion. During the worst budget crisis in state history, many of our Republican state legislators are attending an ALEC convention in Atlanta, Georgia listening to the likes of Zell Miller suggest that Rahm Emanuel put "Gorilla Glue" on President Obama's chair to prevent him from "gallivanting around" the globe.
The Arizona Education Network reports:
The list of our "representatives" who are reportedly bailed out of Arizona for a little Georgia hob-nobbing this week: Representatives Cecil Ash, Ray Barnes, Nancy Barto, Sam Crump, John Kavanagh, Debbie Lesko, John McComish, Nancy McLain and Steve Yarbrough.
In addition to Senate President Robert Burns, Senators Pamela Gorman, Jack Harper, Barbara Leff, Al Melvin and Russell Pearce also on the list of ALEC conference attendees. We are left (almost) uncharacteristically speechless.
No word yet on whether Zell has challenged Jack Harper to a duel. The return date of our illustrious leaders is set for July 20th.
The deadline for passing legislation to refer a 1 cent increase in the sales tax to the ballot for the next election is the end of July. If additional revenue sources are not agreed upon by the legislature soon, further catastrophic cuts to health care and education will be necessary to balance the budget. And even more state workers will be laid off.
Hope you're having fun in Hotlanta, kids. I've got an idea. Why don't you just stay there? |
